Chris is one of those small business owners that truly cares about his members and potential members. Prodigy Gym is priced fairly compared to another gym we were members of and we feel like we are getting more services and not paying an arm and a leg extra.

I've been going to this gym since 2021 and I'm very sad to leave. Armed with an expansive assortment of quality machines and free weights, well curated gym ambiance, consistent improvements, and no shortage of friendly faces, this has been the best gym I've ever had the pleasure of attending.

Went to prodigy for 2.5 years, it was the best gym experience and environment I have ever been a part of. The staff is great and they want to help you reach your goals, whatever they may be.

The variety of equipment is unparalleled, most of which is plate-loaded and high quality! The sound of clanking plates and rock 'n roll is one of my favorite sounds, especially coming from an underground gym!

As one business owner to another I have a lot of respect for this gym! Been lifting here for 6 months and Chris and the community are overall a 5 stars.

Alice is 82 and has trained here for over 30 years. Kids as young as 9 train here too. No club music, no daycare, no pool. If you've never set foot in a gym like this, Chris will walk you round and set up any machine you point at.

A member's story

Safe, respected and supported, whatever time she walked in

Addie trained at Prodigy for a year before life got in the way. She left a review on her way out, and it is the one worth reading if you have ever stood outside a gym like this one and wondered whether there was room in it for you.

"Literally the best gym in town," she wrote. "I just want to say thank you to all the gentlemen that work here. No matter the time I would go to the gym, I always felt safe, respected, and supported."

Chris and his crew made me feel like I was part of something bigger.

Personal training, including the owner

Training is available with any coach on the floor, and Chris still takes clients himself. Whether you want a programme written, someone to fix your setup, or a full show prep, there is a coach here for it. If you're over 40 or coming back from an injury, that isn't an edge case here. It's a big part of who trains at Prodigy.

  • 1:1 personal training with any of the coaching team
  • A free InBody body-composition scan at your first session
  • Programme design for muscle, strength or fat loss
  • Injury-aware and arthritis-friendly programming (Matt Petersen, Chris Havekost)
  • Competition and show prep, including posing
  • Online coaching

Your free 3-day pass includes a 30-minute session with Chris and an InBody scan. Just say so when you book.

Find the coach who fits you

Which one of these is for you?

A 9-year-old, a postpartum mum, a 60-year-old working around arthritis and a national-level bodybuilder all train on this floor. Every one of them is somebody's client.

1739 S College Ave

There's been a gym under this address for 46 years

In 2014 Chris Havekost bought The Zone Health and Fitness from Greg Bobby and renamed it Prodigy, from the Latin prodigium, a sign of something to come. Greg still trains clients on the same floor.

In 2020 they took the unit next door, and it became the leg room, now the biggest in Colorado. The place has grown by adding iron and nothing else: no pool, no daycare, no club music. Which is why lifters who trained at Dorian Yates' Temple Gym in Birmingham walk down the stairs here and recognise it.
